Why it was made
In application design the task was to redesign and revise a mobile application. Since we wanted to use an app that can also provide potential added value, we decided to use the "fiftyFifty-Taxi" App of the Ostalbkreis.
Since 16 years, the "fiftyFifty-Taxi" drives teenagers and young adults up to the age of 25 home safely. It is half price on Fridays and Saturdays and on evenings before public holidays from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning in the Ostalbkreis district. This service has been available via app for 10 years.
The user should be able to create or join a ride easily and quickly.
The User needs to feel safe and be able to trust.
The app should also be used outside the beneficiary period.
The sharing function should make the app more sustainable and less expensive.

How it works
To enable quick and easy booking, the hierarchy of the app is flat, consisting of only two levels. The ride manager on the left and the option to book a new cab ride on the right.
The final app is characterized by the playful use of small graphic elements. A fine line in the background provides an analogy to the map and matching icons support the user experience. Primary and secondary call-to-actions are in orange, providing a clear contrast to the main colors chosen.
Like the design, the main colors are aimed at a broad target group and are therefore gender-neutral. Due to the contrast of the colors on the main screens, the user can directly recognize the hierarchy and knows where he is.
The newly added sharing concept is designed in a way that you do not have to share a cab ride in principle, but always have the option to do so. Thus, the app guides the user to do something good for the environment and save money at the same time.
Our survey implies that not everyone wants to share a cab with strangers this is why we decided to grant the User the possibility to make the trip public during the booking process, but also the option to share the trip only with friends after booking.
